Hollywood producer, Jonathan Stark, and SW Florida author, Nancy R. Koerner, establish liaison for collaboration on Belize Survivor cinematic effort.
Jonathan Stark, Emmy Award Winning writer/producer, announces his interest in developing Belize Survivor: Darker Side of Paradise into a full-feature Hollywood film. Nancy Koerner's screenplay adaptation of the groundbreaking novel, based on her own true story, depicts a magnificent paradox of tropical splendor and domestic violence in a primitive foreign land with none of the modern-day resources that might have provided shelter and legal advocacy. Stark's interest in this project is well-founded, as Koerner's self-published book is swiftly gaining momentum. Grass-roots acclaim is fueling its spectacular rise into the public eye, and the solid track-record of all five-star reviews on Amazon.Com bear witness to its widespread appeal.
Jonathan Stark is no stranger to Hollywood. With hundreds of diverse credits in filmography such as TV scripts for Cheers, The Drew Carey Show, and According to Jim, his most notable writing achievement was Ellen's brilliant "Coming Out" sitcom episode in 1997 which resulted in an Emmy. Now turning his hand from TV production to the big-screen, Stark currently has several screenplays of his own in various stages of completion. And he has an eye for winners.
"It's got all the components of a great movie - the dichotomy of natural beauty overlaid with dark personal terror, love, loss, and a climax worthy of the term 'Hollywood ending,'" says Stark. "All in all, I think it's a terrific project and I look forward to running with it."
Besides working on the final draft of the screenplay, Koerner is also heavily involved in speaking engagements for universities, civic organizations, book clubs, reading festivals, book signings, and radio interviews. As a domestic violence survivor, former professional musician, and dynamic motivational speaker, she is committed to helping other women regain their own autonomy and, in doing so, find their own redemption. "Like the Phoenix," says Koerner, "we rise from the ashes and are not defeated, but transformed."
Belize Survivor: Darker Side of Paradise is available, autographed and personally inscribed, from BelizeSurvivor.Com with a portion of all "Direct-from-the-Author" proceeds resulting in a donation to the Shelter for Abused Women and Children in her hometown of Naples, FL.
