Lee AustinWho are you and where are you coming from?

Hello Fellow Expats, My name is Lee, I am an Expat from the USA, better yet, from Missouri, the "Show Me State".

What is your activity right now?

Currently, I assist my husband in Real Estate at Rainforest Realty in San Ignacio. As former Realtors in the US, we are excited to assist others in finding their piece of paradise here in Sunny Belize. I am retired, but enjoy the excitement of assisting in finding lovely properties for others to enjoy. It is also a great way to meet the beautiful people of Belize as well as the different areas of the country.

Tell us why you choose to move to Belize?

I Moved to Belize to RETIRE!! It was my guess that my retirement would not keep me fed or clothed or housed. I enjoy the stress free lifestyle of Belize. I love the people of Belize. I love assisting and volunteering at Rainforest Realty.

How long have you been in Belize?

My husband and I have been in Belize three years and counting.

What do you miss the most, if anything?

I do miss my friends and family, but do not miss living in the US. I have told my friends and family that I have "gone to make a place for them" here in Belize, so when the things get too bad, they all have a place to stay--IN BELIZE.

Did Belize brings you any surprises? Which ones?

Not a lot of surprises from Belize. I had no great expectations, so everything has been all good

Any advices to give to the readers?

My advise to any expat is to remember, we are visitors in a foreign country. Even as we call Belize home, we are still expats, and cannot change the way things are done in Belize. The people of Belize are very caring and loving, they do not take kindly to being rushed, talked to in loud voices or being disrespected. This is really the country of "Treat others as you would want that they treat you".

Do you have something else you would like to share with us?

I would like to share my love for this country, but I cannot do it on this form. So, you will have to come to Belize to find out for yourself. If you make that choice, please look me up at Rainforest Realty in San Ignacio. Our website is http://www.rainforestrealty.net
